הכפר הוקם בשנת 1937 על אדמת הקרן הקיימת ליד גבת כמוסד לנערים עזובים בפיקוח הוועד הלאומי
הכפר הופקע על ידי הצבא הבריטי לצורך הרחבת בסיס רמת דוד
והוא עבר בשנת 1942 באופן זמני לחדרה ולאחר מכן לתל מונד שם הוא נמצא עד היום.
מטרת המוסד היה להחזיר ילדים על דרך היישר של לימודים ועבודה
יש כיתוב בגב הצלומים ועל גבי אחד מהם
בשניהם נראים נערים השוהים בכפר
קרע בתחתית אחד הצלומים
