Attributed to Luis Berrueco (Puebla, Mexico, early 18th century). Our Lady of Sorrows. Oil on canvas. 85.5 x 67 cm. Luis Berrueco, an eighteenth-century Spanish painter, was the author of outstanding paintings on religious and caste themes. Formed within the decorative pictorial trend of the first half of the 18th century, his artistic activity could be situated between the years 1717 and 1750. He learned the trade in the workshop of Juan Correa, a mulatto artist who developed his work from 1675 until well into the century. XVIII, of which his paintings are preserved in the cathedral of the Mexican capital.
