FOLLOWER OF JAN GOSSAERT 16th century- Madonna and Child - FOLLOWER OF JAN GOSSAERT 16th century Madonna and Child Oil on panel Measurements 95.5 x 72 cm According to the opinion of Max Friedländer collected in the archives of the RKD this work must be assigned to a follower of the painter Jan Gossaert (c. 1478 - 1532), although it was probably done after the painter's death, in the second half of the 16th century. Gossaert made several similar works for private devotion, identical in the main figures of the Virgin and Child but changing the background of the painting. The Maurithuis in The Hague contains the closest version to the one we now present.
