Shoushan ‘Beast’ stone seal, Qing dynasty
A quadrangular seal made of carved Shoushan stone in a reddish hue. It is decorated with an incised poem, and in the upper area is the image of a crouching mythical beast with its body folded over its thickly bent legs. It hides its long tail under its belly and tilts its head with an intimidating expression. It shows age-related wear and tear. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
