Guglielmo Pugi (1850 - 1915) "Muse"

Marble. It is signed "Pugi" on the base. It represents a lady or muse holding a vase with the right hand and in contraposto position. It emphasizes the care in the representation of the face and the dress.

Guglielmo Pugi (1850 - 1915) was born in Fiesole (Tuscany) and is a representative of the "Art Nouveau" movement in Italy. He lived in Florence and from 1870 ran a workshop "Guglielmo Pugi e Figli" together with his sons until his death. The carver continued with his sons under the name "Fratelli G. e F. Pugi". They stand out in the choice of materials, first quality marble, and good taste in the carving.

It shows wear and the left arm is missing.

Provenance: Great family collection, Germany, since 90's.

Height: 83 cm
