Lot 115 Large dragon fish bowl, blue and white, Ming dynasty, Longqing (1567 - 1572). 明隆庆 (1567-1572) 青花海水云龙戏珠纹大缸

Large porcelain vat with a circular base, flat also on the inside, supporting the slightly arched walls of the piece. It tops the form with a mouth, with a flattened and thickened rim, which emerges towards the exterior. The shape is not perfectly regular, with a certain oscillation in the profile. This typology called Chinese fishbowl (G?ng ?) or "fish-bowl" is a special product for housing fish, with the intention of observing them, or containing water.

European private collection, Switzerland. Dr. Jacques Louis Crausaz (1933, Lausanne, Switzerland - 2023, Barcelona, Spain) is a doctor specialized in Human Body Biochemistry, Medicine (Lausanne, Switzerland), Psychiatry (Paris, France), Neurology and Biochemistry (Harward, USA) and researcher in space medicine, between 1970 - 1992, "Space Conquest Operative" for NASA (Houston, USA). Due to his research on natural medicine, he traveled to many countries around the world, including China, where he acquired many of the items in his collection.

Figure of a "Buddhist sage", Himalaya, 19th century

Laminated, embossed and patinated metal. Silver-gilt leaf and other metals.

A figure of a sage or lama depicted with all the attributes of a Buddha and seated in a relaxed position. He is resting his right foot on the double-lotus pedestal, while the other foot is flexed and performing 'mudra' postures with his hands. His face is slightly tilted to one side with a relaxed expression and a half smile. He wears a robe, elaborate jewellery and a sacred scarf. With wear, faults and dents. It has a patina of antiquity with traces of gilt lacquer and polychrome. 

On the base there is an engraved mark in the shape of an eight-petalled flower.
