Black lacquered wooden dish, Southern Song.
Black lacquered wooden deep plate in the shape of a "bracket-lobed" chrysanthemum. This form has been made in metal, porcelain, and lacquer for a wide variety of vessels and uses, both in the Song dynasty and later.
The molding of this dish is exceptionally sharp with foliate form from the base and wavy sides with silhouette of petals. It consists of 14 lobes that support a flattened edge with a rounded mouth, and also a foliated profile. The result of the shape is exceptionally beautiful, with sharp molding and harmonious proportions.
In perfect condition.
