Iron-red and blue underglaze enameled dish, Yongzheng (1723 - 1735)
At the base is a six-character cobalt blue underglaze seal 大清雍正年制 (made in the reign of Yongzheng of the Qing dynasty), and surrounded by a double circle.
Deep plate with a circular profile and a wide, flat rim that is decorated underglaze in the center with a scene of river "koi" fish swimming among flowers and chasing a flaming pearl. The pattern of waters with flowers is repeated on the rim and reverse. The fish and flowers are made in iron-red; the waters and the divisions for each scene, circle or double circle, in cobalt blue.
The legend of the carp or koi fish says that those specimens that I If they swam upstream despite the fierce currents to reach the waterfall and climb it, they earned a reward for their effort and were transformed into dragons. The representation of these animals is considered to attract fortune and is a symbol of perseverance and triumph.
In perfect condition with no breaks or restorations.
