Large "Bitong" jade brush container, with Qianlong seal.

Carved into the center of the base features a square four-character Qianlong seal 乾隆年制. Jade is an intense spinach green color with darker tones, and translucent.

This large container is cylindrical in shape and on the outside it is covered with pearls. carved in half relief with scholars in a mountainous landscape with pine trees and pagodas. The scene is It is well composed and the carving has details of great quality and naturalism, together with its large size and weight, demonstrate the skill necessary to make this piece. The style of the scene was inspired by in traditional Chinese painting, in the form of a scroll, deeply rooted in the art of China. At the same time, the use of pots for brushes is related to scholars, whose popularity was on the rise during the Qing dynasty because the Qianlong Emperor was a lover of poetry and calligraphy.

It is in an excellent state of preservation. < /p>
