MODEL IN GOLD, DIAMONDS AND SAPPHIRES OF THE FRENCH SHIP "LE HOUSSARD".
It features 59.2 ct. of brilliant cut diamonds and 26.08 ct. of princess cut diamonds. It has a total of 75 ct. sapphires, of a wide variety: oval cut of 9x6.5 mm, round cut of 6 and 2.5 mm, square kite cut and trinagular cut of 3x3 mm.
Made in the 1990's by the Catalan jeweller Josep Solé Sellarés (1961-2018), it depicts the French destroyer "Le Houssard", first built in 1848 and considered one of the most fearsome destroyers due to its technical innovations. Its base, of nautical style, depicts the star of the cardinal points.
Both parts work together with the base as an automaton, each turning in the opposite direction to the other. The system has not been in use for many years, so we recommend that it be put into operation.
The display cabinet is made of ebonised wood, "bleu du roi" coloured enamel and methacrylate.
All parts come unassembled for easy shipping and transport, but can be welded together.
13.5 x 16.7 x 3.5 cms ship; 9.5 cms height x 18.5 cms diameter ship's base and 12.5 x 47.6 x 35.5 cms display cabinet base.
