An incredible medal collection and more for 1 man, 2 wars
An evocative and complete medal group awarded to J.W. Thorpe (J36295) spanning both World Wars. This set comprises:
- 1914-15 Star
- British War Medal 1914-18
- Victory Medal
- 1939-45 Star
- Atlantic Star
- War Medal 1939-45
- Naval Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (George VI, 'Regular Army' type)
- Royal Fleet Reserve Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (George VI)
The medals are mounted for display and remain in good condition, with crisp naming and ribbon colour retention. Please note: while the 1914-15 Star is a desirable award, it is more commonly encountered than the rarer 1914 Star.
Accompanying the medals is a hallmarked silver 15-jewel pocket watch, believed to be gifted around 1919 (unengraved and with no formal provenance), and Thorpe’s original Supplementary Clothing Book, stamped and named, offering a tangible link to life on the Home Front.
A well-presented and complete naval group reflecting a full military career across two global conflicts. Perfect for collectors of naval history or those seeking a personal narrative through medals, timepieces, and paper.
