A WOOD FEMALE FIGURE WITH A BASKET

Provenance: Vittorio Bellini (1936-2009) collection.
The Kom community resides mainly in the north-western area of Cameroon. It is a patriarchal society, although it is matrilineal in terms of succession. This sculpture has a noticeable visual impact, with the anatomical lines of the female figure recalled in the roundness of the basket on the head.
