Header of the photographer and cliché applied to the front, a printed dedication to the archduke Franz Ferdinand.
Provenance: Italian private collection.
Eduard Hoker, taxidermist and photographer, was selected along with other professionals to accompany the Archduke of Austria Franz Ferdinand (1863-1914) on a journey that in 1892-1893 would have led him around the world for scientific and ethnographic purposes . The four photos presented here are entitled and dated: “111. Japan. “Fugjiama von Gotemba” 13. August, 1893”; “112. Japan. “ Der Gipfel des Fugjima 3728 m.” 13. August 1893”; “114. Japan. “Der Krater des Fugjiama” 13. August 1893”; “115. Japan. “Pilger am Gipfel des Fugjiama” 13. August 1893”.
