A GREEN-GLAZED AND MOULDED CERAMIC VASE, HU
China, Western Han dynasty
The globular body supporting a sturdy cylindrical neck, the mouth underlined by a relief band, to the shoulder a frieze with stylized animals caught in dynamic positions, the whole external surface covered with a thick green glaze with warm tones.

Provenance: Italian private collection.
The shape and decoration of this vase refer to a production that is well represented in tomb contexts of the Shaanxi province, datable to the end of the Western Han dynasty (Luoyang chutu wenwu jicui, Luoyang 1990, n. 45).
