ALEXANDER II OF RUSSIA: (1818-1881) Emperor of Russia 1855-81. Assassinated. D.S., Alexander, in Cyrillic, a bold and good large example signature, one page, folio, St. Petersburg, 13th April 1862, in Cyrillic. The partially printed document being a Saint Stanislaus Knight appointment decree given to the President of the French Commission Pelouze, stating `As an expression of Our special benevolence, We most graciously appoint you a Knight of Imperial and Royal Order of Saint Stanislaus of the Second Class, awarding you a star and forwarding the insignia to you.´ Countersigned at the foot of the document by the Chancellor of Orders Count Adlerberg. Bearing alongside the Tsar signature an attractive paper seal affixed. With blank integral leaf. Water stain to the bottom edge not affecting the Tsar´s signature, and few more stains to the blank leaf, otherwise G to VG £1200-2000
