BERTHIER LOUIS-ALEXANDRE: (1753-1815) Marshal of France, Prince of Neuchatel. Chief of Staff under Napoleon. A good and interesting L.S., Alexandre, two pages, 4to, Paris, 20th November 1811, to General Caffarelli, in French. Berthier asks his correspondent if he is aware of `..the victories of the Aragon army on 25th October, defeating Blake´s army, and about the Sagunto´s fortress captured..´ and forwards several gazettes. Further saying `Regarding you General, the Emperor has ordered that you lead your division against Mina, and that you pursue him until his destruction..´ A letter of interesting content. With blank integral leaf. Small overall, minor age wear. G £120-150 Joaquin Blake y Joyes (1759-1827) Spanish General who served during the French revolutionary wars. Defeated by Suchet at Sagunto on 25th October 1811. Marie Antoine Caffarelli du Falga (1766-1849) French General of Italian origin. Napoleon´s aide de camp. Caffarelli routed General Francisco Mina´s band of guerrillas.
