KAYSAROV PAISI: (1783-1844) Russian General serving during the Napoleonic Wars. Former adjutant to General Kutuzov in the battle of Borodino. An excellent L.S., `Kaissaroff´, with holograph, one page, 4to, Melun, 2nd of April 1814, in French. The document being a certificate issued by Kayssarov, stating `I hereby state that Monsieur Jean Baptiste d´Osonville has been the first to declare himself supporter of the Allies at the time of my arrival to Melun..´ further saying `..It is him also the first one to hold high the White Cockade, and the one who, in presence of the French parliamentarians, encouraged the people to shout Vive le Roi..´ Bearing a red wax seal to the front. A very interesting letter dated the day before the treaties and negotiations started between Napoleon and the Austrian, Prussian and Russian representatives, ending few days later with Napoleon´s abdication and the treaty of Fontainebleau on 6th and 11th April 1814. Kaysarov and the Russian troops are about to reach and take the control of Paris. Folded, with small stain to the upper right edge. Very small professional repair to the verso, about VG £600-900 It has often been reported that Kaysarov, second to Kutuzov, said having seen General Kutuzov crying when Napoleon I occupied Moscow in 1812.
