BILLAUD-VARENNE JACQUES NICOLAS: (1756-1819) French Revolutionary, often considered a key architect of the period known as The Reign of Terror. Nicknamed ''Le Tigre'' (''The Tiger''). Billaud-Varenne was a member of the Committee of Public Safety, later sentenced to deportation to French Guiana after is involvement in the 12th Germinal insurrection (1st April 1795). A good A.L.S., Billaud Varenne, one page, 4to, Saint-Sever, 9th March 1794, to Pierre Charles Ruamps, in French. Billaud-Varenne congratulates his correspondent and states in part `..You have done right informing me without delay..
