ROLLAND ROMAIN: (1866-1944) French Dramatist & Novelist, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1915. Two A.Ls.S., Romain Rolland, two pages each, the second written to two separate sheets, 8vo, Hotel Byron, Villeneuve, 12th November 1917 and Sunday, n.d., the second, [to Youra Guller], in French. Rolland responds to his correspondent«s meeting request on his first letter, suggesting to have a tea together any day of the week as long as she confirms so two days earlier. Rolland writes a four lines annotation to the third page, probably by mistake to a different correspondent. On the second letter Rolland states in part `I did not recognize your name when you wrote to me several weeks ago. You did not make any mention to our previous meeting, and couldn«t imagine that you were in an island in the Neuchatel lake.. Please forgive me, I would have answered to you in a different way..« further saying `I have not forgotten the deep impression that I experienced listening to your musical play.. It seems impossible to me that your talent will not be soon acclaimed..« Rolland concludes explaining that he knows well the Director of the Conservatory, Hans Huber, and that he she wishes so could recommend her with pleasure.
