ROUAULT GEORGES: (1871-1958) French Expressionist Painter. A good and lengthy A.L.S, `G. Rouault«, six pages, 8vo, grid paper, Saumur-Marne et Loire, n.d., to a woman, in French. In his usual untidy writing, Rouault fills the six pages, with additional small messages or end of sentences written left to right and up and down to the borders, including few sketches, one of them being a portrait-mask, and stating in part `Because you seem to understand (which is quite rare) that my painting is more important that many other positive thingsÉI take the risk to make you this proposal, which your husband would certainly approve..«, Rouault further suggests to his correspondent that she collects a large binder with drawings, many showing masks, that he has left at the Paris museum, and that she sends him the whole by post-mail, and in exchange Rouault would offer her the one she would choose. Further saying `Forgive my ugly writing - Imagine that I write with a brush instead of a fountain pen«, and after describing the paintings, sizes, way of packings etc.. stating `What can I say, I have the bad habit of pointing out everything because I haven«t always found great respect around me, not even understanding..
