LA FAYETTE GILBERT DU MOTIER: (1757-1834) Marquis de La Fayette. French Aristocrat and Military Officer. Close to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, La Fayette fought in the American Revolutionary War. He later became a key figure in the French Revolution of 1789 and the July Revolution of 1830. A good A.L.S., `Lafayette´, one page, 4to, La grange, 5th June 1827, to Monsieur Chaper, Hotel de Mirabeau, rue de la Paix, Paris, in French. La Fayette states in part `My trust in Monsieur Chaper´s good care and the promise of a prompt visit which he has kindly granted to me give me the hope to believe in meeting him soon at la Grange…´ La Fayette further refers to his next Thursday trip to Paris, saying `My visit to Paris has no other purpose than some easy arrangements related to the wedding of my grand-daughter Louise..´ With address leaf in La Fayette´s hand.
