WILHELM I: (1797-1888) King of Prussia 1861-88 and the first German Emperor 1871-88. D.S., Wilhelm, as King of Prussia, one page, folio, Berlin, 17th October 1879, in German. The partially printed document confirms the appointment of Baron Christian von Massenbach of Poznan to be Vice President of the Government in Schleswig and states, in part, 'It was done with the confidence that the new Vice President Baron von Massenbach will continue to be devoted to Us and Our Royal House, and that he will fulfil the duties of the office entrusted to him with great zeal. In return he will enjoy Our utmost support and protection regarding the rights associated with his current office'. Signed by the King at the foot alongside a blind embossed seal.
