SANTERRE ANTOINE JOSEPH: (1752-1809) French Brewer who participated in the Storm of the Bastille and became General and Commander of the National Guard during the French Revolution. Very popular for his generosity as owner of the Brasserie de la Magdeleine. Autograph receipt signed, `Santerre´, one page, oblong 8vo, Paris, 15th August 1786, to Monsieur Levassor, in French. Santerre commits himself to a future payment, stating `On the 10^th March next, I will pay to Monsieur Levassor the amount of four thousand three hundred and twenty six pounds and eight sols for the value received in goods in Paris on 15^th August 1786´ Santerre adds beneath his signature his address `Faubourg St. Antoine after the Rue de De Reuilly´ VG
