MUSSET ALFRED DE: (1810-1857) French Poet and Novelist. Best known for his autobiographical novel The Confession of a Child of the Century (''Confession d'un enfant du siècle'' (1836), in part related to his love affair with George Sand. Scarce A.L.S., `Alfred de Musset´, one page, 8vo, Quai de Voltaire 21, Paris, 23rd June 1841, to Monsieur Schwartz, in French. Musset writes to his correspondent, his reputed Parisian tailor and creditor, asking him to send someone to his home, promising a prompt return of the amounts due, and stating `…pour quelques affaires don't j´ai besoin le plus tôt possible. Le petit compte réglé entre nous n´empêchera ni ne retardera le paiement de ce que je pourrai vous devoir de nouveau´ (“…for some business that I need as soon as possible. The small account settled between us will not prevent or delay the payment of what I may owe you again”) With address leaf in De Musset´s hand, bearing several postmarks. At the time of the present letter, Alfred de Musset was living at the 21 Quai Voltaire, together with his mother and sister. Few days earlier, Musset had composed his well-known work Rhin Allemand, six strophes full of lyrism which made him popular.
