CODY W. F.: (1846-1917) American showman, known as 'Buffalo Bill'. An excellent, large vintage signed 7 x 10 cabinet photograph, the image depicting Cody in a head and shoulders pose wearing his Stetson hat. Photograph by Guigoni & Bossi of Milan and bearing their imprint to the lower mount and verso. Signed by Cody in bold, dark purple ink across a light area at the head of the image, 'To American friend in Austria Dr. [the name partially erased] W. F. Cody, Buffalo Bill' and dated Vienna, 7th May 1896 in his hand. A couple of light scuffs to the image, predominantly where the original recipient's surname has been partially erased, otherwise VG
Buffalo Bill's Wild West shows toured Europe eight times, the first four tours between 1887-92 and the last four from 1902-06
