LAVATER JOHANN KASPAR: (1741-1801) Swiss Poet, Writer and Philosopher. Best known for his works in the field of physiognomy. Autograph Statement Signed, `Johann Caspar Lavater - Pastor´, one page, oblong 5.5 x 4, Zurich, 27th November 1794, in German. Lavater very carefully writes seven lines, in bold dark ink, with his thoughts, stating `Where you are, there is God, and instead of God your conscience - Praise God where you are, praise him in your conscience - Ask yourself seriously every day, is all done never enough?... Don't do, even the smallest thing, with purposeless recklessness! Become stronger daily, in all wisdom…´ Very small minor age wear, with small remnants of former affixing to the verso, otherwise G to VG
