ROUSSEAU JEAN-JACQUES: (1712-1778) French Writer and Philosopher. A very fine and interesting autograph manuscript, one page, 4to, n.p., n.d. [1745-48], in French. Rousseau writes a short text, being related to the history of women, and annotates to the upper left corner `Dupui p.168 cite val. La Princesse, touchée de la fidélité et de la résolution honteuse de lui survivre, rappelle les meurtriers..´ ("All the strength of the King had been destroyed during the rebellion which took place in Siracusa, looking for a girl named Harmonia. The rebels were looking for her to kill her…. She puts on her the Royal clothes, and exposes her to the fury of the People; this young girl has the courage not to say who she is and accepts herself to be killed. The Princess, touched by such loyalty and because of her own shameful determination to survive her, recalls the murderers.."). Small overall minor age wear, with bottom edge irregularly trimmed and creasing to the right corners. G

The present text corresponds to Rousseau´s work about the history of women, written between 1745 and 1751 for his benefactress Mrs Louise Marie Madeleine Dupin, and which would never be published.

Pierre Dupuy (1582-1651) French Historian. Councillor at the Parliament and guardian of the King´s library. He wrote many works mostly related to the History of France.
