German carved ivory and wood figures - 18th-19th Century, in the manner of Stefan Troger

wood and elephant ivory (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 o Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758) carving depicting a female and male figure. Carved in full round, the figures with tattered clothing and carved wooden shoes set on an integral wood base, come directly out of the tradition of Simon Troger (1683 -1768) in the depiction of wood and ivory subjects in tattered clothing. This lot is similar in style and technique to other carvings in the Tyrolean Landesmuseum collection in Innsbruck, Austria (Ref Scott Defrin, Recognizing the Hand of Simon Troger - Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum, Innsbruck). Her: height x width x depth 21.5 x 8 x 8.6 cm; weight 253 gr. Him height x width x depth 22.5 x 8.9 x 8 cm; weight 211 gr. Item condition grading: **** good. Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity (pre-1947).
