FRENCH REVOLUTION MATRIX SEAL: A rare and unusual wooden matrix seal, used for wax seals, dating from the French Revolution era. Matrix made in brass, showing the French revolutionary republican symbol of Marianne personifying the Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, and the bonnet hanging to the head of a spear. Also bearing the initials EB to a shield. The height being 8 cm, and the matrix seal 2 x 2.5 cm. With a white painted number to the wooden head corresponding to a former inventory list. VG
