SMITH WILLIAM SIDNEY: (1764-1840) British Admiral who served in the American and French Revolutionary Wars. A.L.S., W Sidney Smith, one page, 4to, Duke Street, 4th December 1805, to a Chaplain. Smith states that he is glad to hear from Captain Dacres 'of you having join'd' and continues 'I hope you are comfortable, nothing will be wanting on Capt. D's part to make you so. I am sure for he respects your cloth & must have a due regard for the friend of his & your sincere friend'. With an ink annotation in an unidentified hand to the upper edge. Some slight age wear and minor foxing and tipped at the upper edge to a page removed from an album, G
