PLATTERS THE: Multiple signed 7.5 x 9.5 (19,5 x 24,7 cm) page removed from an autograph album by all five members of the American vocal group of the early rock and roll era. Individually signed by each member, comprising Tony Williams, Herb Reed, David Lynch, Paul Robi and Zola Taylor (the 'Mercury Classic' line-up of 1955-59). Reed adds the vocal group name `The Platters´, also dated 24th April 1958. Bearing to the verso four additional autographs with inscriptions, comprising Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) English Composer, Peter Pears (1910-1986) English Tenor. His career was closely associated with the composer Britten, his personal and professional partner for nearly forty years, Line Renaud (1928- ) French Singer and Pierre Boulle (1912-1994) French Novelist. Boulle was an engineer serving as a secret agent with the Free French in Singapore, when he was captured in 1943 and subjected to two years' forced labour. Best known for two of his works which were made into award-winning films The Bridge over the River Kwai (1952), being also the film screenwriter and Planet of the Apes (1963). Signed with good inscription being Avignon his hometown. Small overall minor age wear and toning, mostly to edges, otherwise G Provenance: The present page originates from the restaurant visitor's book of Jean Cassini, a renowned French restaurateur in Avignon, both at the Hotel d'Europe and his own establishment, Restaurant Cassini. The visitor's book was in use from 1957-82.
