[CIRCUS]: SAQUI JULIEN (1786-1825) French impresario, husband of Madame Saqui (1786-1866) the French acrobat and tightrope dancer who was a favourite of Napoleon Bonaparte. Saqui states that, from the observations his correspondent has made to him, 'I beg you to be persuaded that by suppressing the gun fire of the platoon, the fireworks, the music and the drums, the expenditure of the 2 ascensions that I propose will amount to more than the 200 francs costs needed to assemble and disassemble' and further adds 'I will be personally recommending to you that you obtain the authorisation that I am requesting and my wife and I will experience extreme satisfaction if we are permitted to prove our love and devotion to Her Majesty without attaching any value to it.'
