PUCCINI GIACOMO: (1858-1924) Italian Composer. A fine A.L.S, G. Puccini, two pages, 4to, Torre del Lago, 1st April 1921, to Maria Bianca Ginori, in Italian. Puccini first refers to a friend saying `I learned yesterday that Betti was in Florence. I really was feeling bad because I did not respond to him before, now am fine.´ Puccini further refers to several of his main operas, stating `I am here alone but for a short time, I will go to Rome tomorrow to attend a rehearsal of Manon and at the same time I will listen to a concert in the middle of the orchestra conducted by Nikisch. I went to Monte Carlo for the Trittico.´ Puccini adds a comment referring to Monte Carlo casino, stating `Tutto bene, salvo la roulette.´ (''All is fine. Except the roulette''). Before concluding Puccini refers to his houses and comments in part `Our poor old Torre del Lago! What infamy! Enough. Any comment is useless. The house in Viareggio is doing well ahead. I hope to live there soon and thus get out of this rottenness.´ A letter of interesting content. Accompanied by the original printed stationery envelope addressed in Puccini´s hand, postmarked and stamped. Small overall minor age wear, mostly to edges, with two small stains not affecting the text or signature, otherwise G Maria Bianca Ginori-Lisci (1897- ?) daughter of Puccini´s friend Marquis Carlo Ginori-Lisci. Adolfo Betti (1875-1950) Italian Violinist and friend of Puccini. Manon Lescaut (1892) Opera in four acts by Puccini. Arthur Nikisch (1855-1922) Hungarian Conductor. Widely admired by contemporary composers and conductors. Il Trittico (1918) ''The Triptych'' is a collection of three one-act operas, comprising Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi by Puccini.
