BIZET GEORGES: (1838-1875) French Composer. A rare and brief A.L.S., Georges Bizet, one page, 8vo, n.p. [Paris], n.d. [1866-67], to a friend [Jules Adenis], in French. Bizet sends a short but very important message to Adenis, his librettist, stating ´Finally… here it is!....´ Bizet refers to the completion of his opera La Jolie Fille de Perth (1867), after the novel The Fair Maid of Perth (1828) by Scottish author Walter Scott. Further saying `I had to leave for.., but I have received a dispatch, it is postponed until next week. My best regards from your devoted collaborator.´ Extremely small overall minor age wear, otherwise VG Jules Adenis (1823-1900) French Dramatist and opera Librettist. Bizet´s librettists for his opera La Jolie Fille de Perth were Jules Adenis and Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges (1799-1875). The libretto took time to convince the young composer and its conclusion took longer than expected. The opera ended having the highest premiere´s success Bizet ever lived.
