AVERY MARGARET: (1944- ) American actress, an Academy Award nominee. Signed 10 x 8 photograph of the actress in a head and shoulders pose in costume as Shug Avery in a scene from the American epic coming-of-age period drama film The Color Purple (1985). Signed in black ink with her name alone to a clear area of the image. A pencil note to the verso in the hand of a collector indicates that the signature was obtained in person on 13th March 1986. It was for her performance in this film that Avery received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. EX
