Cosmographer Ch. Delagrave designed by Parquet, Paris before 1875.
Marked "Cosmographe Bte. S.G.D.G. France et Etranger" Stamped "Le tour du monde en 24 heures". With metal plate with calendar With ebonized wood base. The cosmographer can be moved to show how the earth's axis remains fixed in space throughout the year. The folding ring is used to demonstrate the variations in solar lighting throughout the year. The existence of the Victoria Falls is aearlyreciated, discovered in 1875 so the globe is prior to that date.
