An excellent A.L.S., Edward, as Duke of Windsor, two pages, 8vo, Hotel Meurice, Paris, 13th December 1938, to Madame Andre Maurois. The Duke thanks his correspondent for her letter and for sending a copy of her husband's biography of Lord Byron, continuing 'Harold Nicholson's clever paragraph on the portrait postcard is like a ''hors d'oeuvre'', whetting one's appetite for deeper study of this brilliantly romantic if unconventional Englishman'. He concludes by remarking that he and the Duchess both enjoyed her luncheon party and look forward to seeing them both chez Monsieur Prouvost that evening. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by the Duke and signed by him with his initial ('E') to the lower left corner. A letter of fine content and association. About EX

Jean Prouvost (1885-1978) French Businessman, Media owner and Politician. Prouvost built and owned various publications including Paris Match.
