EDWARD VIII: (1894-1972) King of the United Kingdom January - December 1936. Later Duke of Windsor. A.L.S., Edward, one page, Head Quarters, 14th Corps., British Expeditionary Force, 4th May 1917, to Mr. Long. The Prince thanks his correspondent for the Resolution passed by the Imperial War Conference on 13th April, which has been submitted to the King for approval. He continues 'It is a source of great satisfaction to me to know that the Imperial War Conference concurs in the proposals made in the Minute addressed to the Prime Minister on 15th March.' With two holograph ink corrections. VG
The Imperial War Cabinet was created by David Lloyd George in 1917 with the intention of co-ordinating the British Empire's military policy during World War I. In the same year the Imperial War Conference passed a resolution regarding a future special Imperial Conference to readjust the relations on the component parts of the Empire.
