CHARLES XIII OF SWEDEN: (1748-1818) King of Sweden 1809-18 & King of Norway 1814-1818. With no natural heir, King Charles, the last King of the house Holstein-Gottorp, chose Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, a Napoleon´s Marshal, as his successor King Charles XIV John. An excellent L.S., `Carolus+´, two pages, folio, Stockholm, 22nd October 1816, to the King of the Two Sicilies Ferdinand I, in Latin. Charles XIII sends a friendly letter to Ferdinand I, announcing him the appointment of J.C. Lagersvard as plenipotentiary Minister of Sweden to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Countersigned at the base by Gustavus Baron of Wetterstedt. Accompanied by the original envelope bearing an attractive and large paper seal affixed. With blank integral leaf. The paper bears a ''C. Willmott 1814'' watermark. Very small tears to the upper and lower edges as a result of the letter opening, not affecting the text or signature. Very small overall minor creasing, otherwise G to VG
