MONTBLANC Octavian 4810, Patron of Art fountain pen, limited edition 1993, 18k gold nib

its fascinating spider and web design are intricately executed in sterling silver threads which cover the black resin barrel and cap. In the midst sits a spider, while all is inspired by Montblanc design typical of the 1920s, however updated to the highest standards of quality and ease of use for today. Crown-jewel of Montblanc's Patron of Art Collection, the Octavian is dedicated to Roman Emperor Caius Octavian who, honored by the Roman Senate with the name Augustus, was the driving force behind Rome’s cultural revival following numerous dark years of war. By means of cunning, tactics, strategic liaisons and deliberate promotion of the arts, Octavian created an elaborate network of culture and power. The spider and web motif thus serve to recall the Emperor’s elaborately woven network of power. Piston filler loading system and 18k gold nib bearing the words "4810 18K 750 MONTBLANC". Limited Edition 2595/4810. Lenght 14 cm. Item condition grading: **** good, unused. Not tested. Although it seems in good working order, it could need a minor overhauling and/or control before use.
