Rare silver gilt Musical Mitzvah Locomotive. Produced by famous artist Chaim Konig, Jerusalem, Israel, 20th century.

This unique piece is one of a very few examples of Judaica made by the famous silver craftsman Chaim Konig.
Chaim lived in Jerusalem and was one of the first artists to produce unconventional pieces during his short career. His pieces have become collectables world wide and this work of art is truly one of his masterpieces. Signed by the artist.
Intricate engravings along the bonnet and body, ladder leading up to the roof, coupling rods silver gilt set with semi -precious stones, tread plate with hanging silver gilt bells, arched windows in conductors cabin, gilt trumpet attached to roof of cabin. The locomotive contains a complete Chanukah set, Chanukiah, oil jug and shammos candle holder. The Chanukiah is hidden in the body of the coal compartment. The words “Haneiros Halolu Koidesh Heim” are engraved on the inside of the lid. The Chanukiah is trough shaped with flower design wick holders. The long-spouted jug is hidden in the cabin. The shammos sits in the funnel.
The musical mechanism is wound by a silver gilt key located at front of locomotive and plays the tune Moaz Tsur.
