This firm was founded by Charles François Delamarche who entered the globe industry as a successor to Robert de Vaugondy, a saga of map and globe makers who served Louis XVI. Delamarche took over the stores of a part of his competitors, which allowed him to make globes of different sizes and republished many maps and globes of Robert de Vaugondy. His son Charles took over the business, which remained in the hands of the family until 1847, when he took over the Grosselin business.
