This work was unveiled by José Manuel Arnaiz who, together with his partner, considered the San Esteban, as part of the pictorial decoration of the Hospital de San Carlos (today Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía) commissioned by Carlos III where the best painters of the Court worked.
