Vase de Fleurs is an original artwork realized by Louis Lemaire in 1870. Original etching on paper. Artist's proof, before letter. Good conditions, except for a spot on the right margin. The sheet is glued on cardboard. Very fresh and elegant impression representing a pot with flowers. The composition is realized in black and white with strong strokes that create contrasts and define the volumes of the flowers. The artwork was realized by Louis Lemaire (1824 - 1910). Lemaire realized images of flowers, marine life and country scenes, all painted in oils or engraved. Lemaire was a pupil of Dupré and Boulard. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1849 and in 1874. He was elected a member of the Society of French Artists. His work made him earn honourable mentions in 1883 and 1889, a Third Class Medal in 1884, and a Second Class Medal in 1889.
