The four scenography sketches presented here were performed by Felice Casorati for the comedy in four acts Luciana and the Butcher (Lucienne et le Boucher), by Marcel Aymè (Joigny 1902 - Paris 1967). Written by Aymè in 1932, it was performed for the first time in Paris at the Théatre du Vieux Colombier & nbsp; April 15, 1948.
The comedy, which tells the story of the morbid relationship between Luciana, already married, and the butcher Duxin, was supposed to be represented in Italy in 1949 but was vetoed by the theatrical censorship office . Only after the purge of numerous scenes, in March 1951, the work could finally be represented. It was then staged by the famous director and actress Tatiana Pavlova (Ekaterinoslav 1890 - Grottaferrata 1975) protagonist together with the well-known actor Giulio Oppi. The sketches of the scenography were probably donated to Pavlova, signed by Felice Casorati, kept by the heirs and then sold to the current owner.
