EIGHTEENTH CENTURY RABBINICAL EMISSARIES FROM ERETZ YISRAEL - TWO DOCUMENTS.
1. Rabbi Aharon ben Yosef HaCohen RABBINICAL EMISSARY (Shadar) TO AMERICA. Document dated 1776, undertaking to return 500 Dutch Florins when he returns to Amsterdam from ‘arei ha’amiariko’ – America!
This fundraising mission to America of Rabbi Aharon ben Yosef HaCohen is mentioned by Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai in his travelogue Maagal Tov p. 137 and in Shluchei Eretz Yisrael p. 373.
A rare mention of America before the Revolution of 1777.

2. A section of a letter of support for Rabbi Yaakov ben R. Shmuel Kimchi of Constantine, a Rabbinical Emissary from Eretz Yisrael, with copy of signatures of the Rabbis of Tunisia 1775, Rabbi Yosef Cohen, Rabbi Shlomo Alfasi, Rabbi Yosef Zarka, Rabbi Nassan Burgil, Rabbi David Margi, Rabbi Nissim Shmuel ben Rabbi Meyuchas.
