Early Medieval Seax, 7th - 8th century AD; length cm 46,5; Incredible blade, also called Scramasax, typical of the Germanic peoples of the Migration period (Lombards, Vikings, Franks, Angles and Saxons); with wooden remains of the original hilt and ornamental appliques of the belt. Provenance: English private collection, bought in Portobello Road in the 1990s.
