WEISSKOPF VICTOR: (1908-2002) Austrian-born American Theoretical Physicist, Group Leader of the Theoretical Division of the Manhattan Project during World War II. A.L.S., Viki, two pages, 4to, Cambridge, Massachusetts, n.d. (1950s), to Joaquin Luttinger, on the printed stationery of the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Weisskopf states that he has received his colleagues letter to the editor as a referee and comments 'I think you should add a few remarks in order to make it more useful', continuing to ask four questions regarding scientific formulas and why some are not defined in the paper, advising 'You ought to give some numerical results, even if they are bad
..It does not matter if the letter has a few words more'. Weisskopf concludes 'If you want to add 1, 3, 4, please send me, right away, by air mail the corrected copy. If you want to leave it as it is
..send me a telegram'. Accompanied by the original envelope (postage stamp and cancellations removed) hand addressed by Weisskopf. VG Joaquin Luttinger (1923-1997) American Physicist, recognised for his contributions to the theory of interacting electrons in one-dimensional metals. Luttinger studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the late 1940s.
