1930s Silver Gilded Brooch signed Palestine , Yemenite Filigree & Granulation work central little ruby stone.
Vintage 1930's brooch done in articulate wire work and Granulated technique.
This brooch is Gilded over Fine silver of 935 concentration with a small central ruby stone.
Signed "PALESTINE" 935 which indicates it has been done before the establishment of the state and is considered a scarce collectors item.
The "Palestine" signed pins are generally rare and much searched for. The gilded ones where made at the time for prestige targeted markets and are considered a small treasure find among collectors.
These jewels where made by Yemenite Jewish jewelers who migrated in the 1930's to Israel and mostly settled in Jerusalem. After the establishment of the State of Israel the signature at the back for later such jewels was marked "made in Israel". The crafts , skills and proficiency of these Jewelers was later practiced in the Bezalel Academy of Arts that further on refined the practice to produce the highly praised Bezalel Islamic type jewels and metalwork.
Condition is very good for the age and type with some expected circumferential little pressure marks which in most areas are probably the way it was done - see back view photo. Holding Pin closes well and brooch can be effortlessly put on.
Size (Diameter ) - 5 cm ( approx 2 inch ) .
Weight - 17.1 grams ( 0.6 oz ) .
