Rare Chinese Gilt Semi-Opaque White Glass Bowl
A very rare Chinese semi-opaque white glass bowl with two-toned gilt decoration throughout, ca. 1736-1795. The exterior depicting the Eight Buddhist Emblems, the Wheel, the Canopy, the Conch, and the Umbrella. Surrounded by floral scrolls with feathery leaves. The interior painted with a five-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl in the center; the interior sides decorated with four dragons with open jaws set amidst scrolling clouds. Marked along the underside with a Qianlong four-character mark in a double square, of the period.

Provenance: Private collection, Sweden; Bukowski's, Stockholm, late 1990s; Private Collection; Christie's New York, "Fine Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art, " Sale 16320, March 22, 2019, Lot 1750; Private California Collection.

Height: 3 in x diameter: 6 1/2 in.
Condition: There are no visible major chips, cracks, or losses. Several fleabite chips along the upper rim. Losses to the gilt decoration throughout, especially along the interior of the bowl. There is a sticker affixed to the underside of the bowl. Some very light wear to the box.
